Sub-Zero makes outdoor versions of some of its ice machines. In the installation guide for the UC-15I, the UC-15I(P)O is the model described as designed and safe for outdoor use.
What we see here
- Outdoors, Sub-Zero's guide requires a GFCI outlet for the UC-15I(P)O, while for the indoor model a GFCI is not recommended and may interrupt its operation.
- The storage bin in these machines is not refrigerated, and Sub-Zero warns that direct sun or high surrounding heat makes the ice melt quickly.
- Melt water leaves through a drain line, and Sub-Zero's troubleshooting asks for that line to run without kinks or loops.

- Reset the outdoor GFCI outlet if the machine has gone dark; if it trips again straight away, leave it off.
- Check the model against Sub-Zero's outdoor list before the parts get the blame: the indoor machine is not built for a deck.
- Note whether afternoon sun reaches the machine, and shade it if you can, because the storage bin is not refrigerated.
- Follow the visible run of drain line and straighten any kink or loop you can reach without moving the machine.

Vacuum door kept popping back open a second after closing. The gasket had a split along the hinge side you could only see with a torch. New gasket, and it seals properly now.

Cubes were fusing into one lump and jamming the ejector arm. He found the mold heater cycling badly and the bin thermostat out of spec. Both changed, and the ice is loose again.
