Why Is the Ice Maker Leaking Into the Freezer?
The short answer
A sheet of ice spreading below the ice maker means water is escaping the mold as it fills, and the suspects are a jammed cube, low or unsteady water pressure, or a valve that is not working properly.
Check in this order
- Turn the ice maker off at the control panel before you reach into the freezer.
- Pick out loose cubes and any slab that lifts free by hand, and leave ice that is frozen on.
- Check the bin sits level and fully home, rails pushed in on models that have them.
- Watch the ice maker for a few minutes, and if water still trickles in, close the shut-off valve on the water line.
