Why Did the Ice Stop After a Power Cut?
The short answer
No water reaches the ice maker until the freezer has pulled back down to its set temperature, so after a long outage expect up to a day before the first cubes.
Check in this order
- Check the breaker for the refrigerator if the control panel is still dark once the house has power.
- Confirm the ice maker indicator still shows on and the freezer is set to 0°F, the setting Sub-Zero recommends.
- Lift out any cubes that softened and froze into one lump, then seat the bin level again.
- Keep the doors shut and leave the unit for 24 hours to pull down.
- Check whether the ice maker's fill tube has iced shut if the bin is still empty next day.

Sub-Zero allows up to 24 hours for first ice whenever a unit has been switched on or defrosted. A long outage leaves the freezer in much the same state: warm, then a slow pull-down, then the first fill.
